Welcome to dubby by design, a blog named after my daughter’s special stuffy, Dubby, she’s had since birth. dubby by design, the blog, was created to showcase a wide variety of the arts and crafts I make, including, but not limited to: Zentangle, crochet, jewelry, painting, cross stitch, needle felting and card making. I usually do these for my friends and family as “just because” or holiday gifts, and sometimes I even make something for myself.
Up until now, I never really gave much thought to monetizing or sharing my arts and crafts beyond my family and friends. But with a growing list of requests from friends and family for for the items I make, I thought I’d give it a try. I also started to Zentangle this year, right after New Year’s, and got my Certified Zentangle Teacher certification in April, 2015. So in addition to selling my arts and crafts, Zentangle and Zentangle Inspired prints and hand drawn cards, I will also be teaching Zentangle classes.
In addition to this blog, and my dubby by design photography blog, I’ve opened an Etsy shop, Ravelry profile, EBay shop, Facebook Page, Twitter account and Instagram*, also under the name “dubby by design” or “dubbybydesign”, to showcase and sell the crochet items and/or patterns of the crochet items, hand drawn and handmade cards, prints of my art, and commissioned works of art, I’m known among my friends and family (and their friends and family) for creating.
I have always loved art and have always had a passion for creating with a wide variety of mediums. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve wanted to become an artist, but never thought I could do it, until this year. Arts and crafts has been a part of my life in one way or another since I could hold a crayon, and as 2014 rolled into 2015, and I found Zentangle, something clicked. I found what I didn’t even know I was looking for, and I thought to myself, “What am I waiting for? Let’s make this work!”
Since that realization in January, 2015, I have become even more focused on my arts and crafts, specifically on Zentangle and crochet, and once I found out I could become a Certified Zentangle Teacher, and took the training, things kicked into high gear and I’ve been putting all my extra time and energy into creating my business and products for my business.
*I appreciate everyone’s patience. I’m a one man shop and I’m busy trying to set up all internet areas of my business, as well as create and make items to sell, so if you go to one site or app, and don’t see much or see that it’s in progress, please don’t hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org, or Facebook message me, with what you’d like, and I’ll make it happen. Please know that all internet sites and apps are being worked on, and that I’m trying to get all areas of my business going and finished as soon as possible. It’s just me doing it all, in between running a household with two active kids, a husband that works long hours, and being my first time doing all of this, things are a little slower going than I’d like.
